Hi, welcome to From Mummy to Mum!
I had been thinking about starting a blog for a while, to be able to share the ups and downs of being a working Mum working towards becoming a stay at home working mum so I will be able to spend as much time as I possibly can with my children.
The hardest part of starting it all off for me was thinking of a name that summed up exactly what this blog was about.
From Mummy to Mum came about when I was writing down what I wanted to blog about and the top of the list was the kids. I then wrote down my names, Helen, H, Mummy, Mum… and I got to thinking that Harry (who is almost 2!!) calls me Mummy which is probably harder to say than Mum however Lily (who has just turned 6) calls me Mum now :(. I remember the first time she called me mum. I can’t remember exactly when or where but I know she was around 3.5 and she just came out with Mum…. I was a little apprehensive! That’s what I call my Mum, I still wanted to be a Mummy, but she was adamant that she wasn’t a baby and that babies call their Mummy’s Mummy – where she has heard that from I don’t know. So from that day forward to Lily I was Mum to Declan (and now Harry) I was Mummy – luckily Declan still calls me Mummy :D. And as I wanted to document their whole lives I thought from the start when I’m a Mummy until the very end when I am a Mum!
Well my name is Helen, (as I guess you know 🙂 ) and I became a stay at home Mummy when my little lady was born 6 years ago. Since then we have added to our little family with Declan arriving in 2010 and Harry arriving in 2012. In 2015 myself and their Dad split up, it was the worst time in my life so far and I had to go back to work before I was ready, so I decided that I needed to start Childminding so I could be there for them at home whenever they need me.
Lily was born in 2008 after 12 months of trying to fall pregnant. She is the most amazing little lady in the world. She is extremely loving and caring and will put others in front of herself (most of the time) however she has an attitude that is causing us some issues!! She sometimes is unaware of the way she speaks to people, well me and her dad. But in school its not there and with her friends it shows its ugly head sometimes. She is an amazing reader showing so much expression and enthusiasm in her reading and everything else as she loves everything to do with school. Her five favourite things are one direction, gymnastics, reading, singing and Star Wars.
Declan, Son #1.
Declan was born in 2010 and since 3 weeks old has slept through even now he will go straight to sleep and then won’t wake till the following morning. He is such a loving little boy it is unreal. He hugs everyone he knows, and loves to high five people. He is such a gentleman already and holds doors open for the ladies and is a real flirt ;). He has a pretty short attention span when it is something he is not interested in, and sometimes even when he is interested in something. He is your typical boy, one thing I never believed in when people would say “Oh he’s a boy, its a boy thing” I thought it was complete rubbish until Declan, he is a stereotypical boy, boisterous, fun, never serious, muddy, dirty, yet the biggest heart ever! His 5 favourite things are karate, football (liverpool specifically), star wars, Disney Infinity and eating chocolate.
Harry, Son #2.
Harry is our gorgeous little rainbow baby. After suffering 4 miscarriage Harry was born in 2012. He is the funniest, happiest (most of the time 😉 ) little boy you will meet. He has the funniest cheesiest grin ever and makes us laugh and smile all the time. He has a temper though, especially when tired! He likes to grab whatever he has and throw it! And it can be anything!!!! Harry’s character is starting to come through now as a cheeky chappy who will do anything to make anyone laugh, if you laugh at him once he will do it again and again and again!! His five favourite things are, eating oranges, Peppa Pig, trains, walking and throwing things!
So that’s my gorgeous little family which I hope you look forward to watching them grow with me!
